The Friends Arena is located near the Solna commuter train station, about six km from Stockholm Central Station. The stadium has a retractable roof, enabling events to take place during the winter season and to host indoor entertainment shows. It is the largest stadium in the Nordic countries. Its capacity is at 50,000 spectators for football matches and up to 67,500 for concerts.
Swedish broadcaster SVT has not yet confirmed that the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 will be held in the Friends Arena, but the venue was already picked to host next year's Swedish national final. The final of Melodifestivalen 2013 moves from Globen, where the Eurovision Song Contest was held in 2000, to the brand new arena in Solna. |
