Three locations in Baku are considered to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2012: the Heydar Aliyev Sport and Concert Complex which has been renovated recently, the Tofig Bahramov Stadium, which would still need to be covered by a roof, or a still to be build concert hall on the boulevard of the National Flag Square.

17.05.11 . Dates and venue Eurovision 2012 to be set on 20th June
On 20th June, Azeri national broadcaster Ictimai is expected at the EBU headquarter in Geneva, Switzerland, to propose the final venue and dates for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Ismayil Omarov, general director of Azerbaijan's Public TV & Radio Broadcasting Company, told at a press conference on Tuesday.

17.05.11 . Belgium's '12 points' to Eric Saade in second semifinal
After the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 EBU revealed the results of the semifinals. In the second semifinal Belgium gave the 12 points to Popular by Eric Saade from Sweden. Witloof Bay from Belgium received points from thirteen countries, but won 1 point too few in order to qualify for the final in Düsseldorf.

16.05.11 . Eurovision Song Contest 2012 starts at midnight in Baku
The Eurovision Song Contest 2012 will be held during the night next year in Baku. Because it is 3 hours later in Azerbaijan than in Western Europe, the live show will only start at midnight local time, when it is 21:00 CET, Jarmo Siim of the European Broadcasting Union told German press agency dpa.

16.05.11 . Eurovision 2012 in Heydar Aliyev Cultural Centre Baku?
The Heydar Aliyev Cultural Centre in Baku is named as the possible venue for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 to be held on 22nd, 24th and 26th May next year. The project that currently still is under construction was part of the bid of Azerbaijan to host the Olympic Games in 2016.

The Eurovision Song Contest taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan, next year, will most probably affect the participants list. Azerbaijan has been in conflict with neighbouring Armenia over the Nagorno-Karabakh region for many years. It is expected that Armenia will withdraw for Baku 2012.

After the victory of Eldar Qasımov and Nigar Camal in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 the people in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, came on the street to celebrate Ell & Nikki's victory with the song Running Scared. Due to the time difference it already was 4 o'clock in the morning in Baku.

15.05.11 . Marcel Bezençon Award for France, Finland and Ireland
Right before the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf Christer Björkman handed out the Marcel Bezençon Awards 2011. The Press Award went to Paradise Oskar from Finland, the Composer Award to Amaury Vassily from France and the Artistic Award went to Jedward from Ireland.

For several artists the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf ended with a flop last night. The biggest victim was Amaury Vassili from France. The bookmaker's favourite could not convince with his opera song Sognu and finished only fifteenth out of twenty five participants.

15.05.11 . Shirley's Angels help Azerbaijan to the Eurovision victory
The Eurovision victory of Azerbaijan partly belongs to Sweden. The winning song Running Scared was written by Stefan Örn and Sandra Bjurman from Sweden and Ell and Nikki were joined on stage by four Swedish backing singers: Shirley's Angels Jessica Marberger and Vera Prada and Lisa Stadell and Åsa Engman.
