The future for the Eurovision Song Contest is secure. However it is possible that future contests may be on a smaller scale and there may be possible changes to rehearsal schedules to economise on time and financial costs. On the other hand, look at the past, the European Broadcasting Union is working on an archive project. As we approach the 60th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015, the EBU is looking at ways to celebrate the anniversary. Discussions are taking place with various broadcasters. On 22nd October 2005 the Danish broadcaster DR, in co-operation with the European Broadcasting Union, organised the anniversary gala Congratulation for the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest. Back then, Waterloo by ABBA was elected as the best Eurovision song ever. |
