20.01.11 . Belgium selects for Eurovision 2011 on 12th February
The Belgian national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 takes place at the Palais des Congrès in Liège on Saturday 12th February. Leslie Cable elaborated on the Belgian selections in Sans Chichi on La Deux. On 30th January there'll first be a preliminary round on the radio. These are the candidates.
In the preliminary heat on VivaCité the audience (per telephone, sms and internet vote on and the professional jury will each determine for 50% which 14 of the 30 candidates will qualify for the Belgian national final to be held mid-February. The audience vote is the sum of all telephone, sms and internet votes converted to the following points: 16 (for the most popular song), 14, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 (for the 14th most popular song). Each of the jury members will also make a personal top-14 in the same way. The sum of the votes of all jury members converted to 16 (for the most popular song), 14, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 (for the 14th most popular song) is the jury vote.

The global result of the preliminary heat on VivaCité is the sum of the audience and jury vote. The top-14 qualifies for the Belgian national final in which the Belgian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 will be selected. In case of a tie the audience vote is decisive. The televoting and internet voting kicks of at the beginning of the show, right before the first song will be performed. The results of the preliminary heat will not be announced at the end of the show.

In the final with 14 candidates on La Une the sms and televoting also kicks off at the beginning of the show. All candidates will be judged by a professional jury composed of 3 up to 5 members right after their performance. This time the votes of the audience and the jury will be converted into the well-kown Eurovision system: 12 (for the most popular song), 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 (for the 10th most popular song). The votes of the jury will be revealed first, followed by the votes of the audience. In case of a tie, the audience vote is decisive. The song which received the most points will represent Belgium in the second semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest 20111 in Düsseldorf.
